Pollination

"For bees, the flower is the fountain of life;
For flowers, the bee is the messenger of love."
-Kahlil Gibron, poet

Rulison Honey Farms offers hive rentals for pollination services in the month of May for orchards and farms in the Mohawk and Hudson Valleys; hives are delivered upon request as soon as blossoms emerge and remain on site for several weeks until the pollination period is completed.  We then come pick our hives up and bring them back to their respective yards so the bees can get busy making honey!

Pollination Facts
Bees have to be moved either before their work day begins (sun up) or after it ends (sun down), otherwise many of them would be out collecting pollen and nectar and come home to a missing hive!
Local orchards’ crops that Rulison honey bees pollinate include:
  • Apples
  • Cherries
  • Peaches
  • Pears
The hives must be removed from the orchards before any pesticides are applied to the trees so as to keep the bees alive and healthy
